The scenery of Porsanger is very varied – from slightly undulating birch-clad mountain plain in the south to arid pebble beaches in the north by Porsangerfjord. Sometimes we find lush river valleys with pine forests, high mountain peaks and a magnificent archipelago in the Inner Porsangerfjord. The variety of habitats and the fact that they are fairly untouched, is the reason why there are established several protected areas in the municipality. Most are easily accessible and well worth visiting.
